Afya Hatua project supports the ‘my health, my right’ campaign

From July 24 to 27, 2024, THPS, through the PEPFAR/CDC Afya Hatua project, collaborated with other stakeholders to commemorate World Health Day at Kambarage Stadium in Shinyanga region.

The event was presided over by Hon. Anamringi Macha, the Shinyanga Regional Commissioner, and aimed to promote positive health-seeking behaviours while providing comprehensive, high-quality health services to the residents of Shinyanga.

Themed “My Health, My Right,” the occasion served as a platform to raise health awareness, reach underserved populations, and deliver healthcare services.

THPS provided a variety of health services, including health education sessions, HIV testing and counselling, voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC) and screening for cervical cancer and non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

Additionally, THPS-supported DREAMS champions from selected health facilities offered youth-friendly services and referrals. These services were specifically tailored to meet the needs of adolescents and young adults, promoting their active participation in the event and encouraging them to utilize essential health services.

The impact of the event was significant, with hundreds of individuals benefiting from the services provided. A total of 324 people were tested for HIV and referred for prevention or care and treatment services as needed.
