THPS Innovation Named Among Top 10 at MUHAS Innovation Week 2026

Tanzania Health Promotion Support (THPS) earned national recognition after its THPS Analytics System (TAS) was selected among the Top 10 Innovations at the 2nd MUHAS Innovation Week 2026, held from 23–27 February at the Muhimbili Campus.

Organized by Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS), the event brought together innovators, researchers, and health leaders to showcase solutions that can transform healthcare delivery in Tanzania and beyond.

TAS is a real-time digital analytics platform designed to strengthen HIV prevention services, particularly Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) programs. The system replaces paper-based reporting with digital tools that capture client data, track follow-up and retention, monitor trends, and generate automated dashboards for decision-making.

Paper-based systems have long slowed HIV prevention efforts by causing delayed reporting, missed follow-ups, and heavy documentation workloads for healthcare providers. TAS addresses these gaps by providing timely, reliable data that supports more efficient service delivery and better health outcomes.

The platform supports users across the prevention continuum, from community peer educators to facility staff and national program managers, ensuring that critical information is available when and where it is needed.

THPS expressed pride in collaborating with MUHAS, Tanzania’s leading health sciences university, and in contributing a locally developed innovation aligned with the country’s digital health priorities.

Japhet Daud, THPS Prevention and HTS Services Technical Advisor, presented the innovation during the event.

Currently at the Minimum Viable Product stage, TAS has strong potential for scale through government partnerships, integration with national systems, and collaboration with implementing partners and donors.

THPS hopes the recognition will accelerate support to expand the system nationwide and strengthen data-driven HIV prevention efforts.
