Dr. Redempta Mbatia
Executive Director
Dr. Redempta Mbatia is the current and founding Executive Director of THPS. With over 32 years of professional experience, she has overseen the implementation of more than 15 grants and donor-funded programs focusing on HIV, tuberculosis, reproductive, maternal and adolescent health, health systems strengthening, gender mainstreaming, and other public health areas. Dr. Mbatia holds a Medical Degree from the University of Dar es Salaam, postgraduate training in Internal Medicine from the University of London – St Thomas Hospital (UK), Fellowship at Stiftsklinik Augustinum (Germany), and an MSc in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
Mr. George Anatory

Mr. George Anatory serves as the Chief Operations Officer for THPS. In this role, he oversees all operational support functions to ensure smooth program implementation and compliance with funders, the Government of Tanzania, and internal policies and procedures. Previously, he served as the Deputy Country Director for ICAP-Columbia University. He has over 23 years of experience managing cooperative agreements, grants, and contracts for international and local non-governmental organizations. His areas of expertise include financial management, project coordination with the host government, design and administration of grant strategy, grant policy formulation, grant/proposal writing, establishment of proposal evaluation panels, startup of complex projects in complex environments, project closeout, and coordination of multi-donor HIV/AIDS, malaria, Tuberculosis, and maternal and child health resources. Mr. Anatory is an accountant by training and also holds an MBA.

Mr. Christopher Henjewele serves as the Director of Strategic Information at THPS. In this role, he provides overall technical support in the planning and implementation of Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning activities for all THPS-supported projects. He has over 15 years of experience working as a Strategic information specialist. Before joining THPS, Mr. Henjewele worked with ICAP as M&E Deputy Director. He holds a Master’s degree in Demography from the University of Dar Es Salaam.

Dr. Frederick Ndossi is the Afya Hatua Project Care and Treatment Director at THPS. In this role, he provides programmatic and day-to-day leadership and technical oversight of all key components of the client-centered comprehensive facility and community-based HIV prevention, care, and treatment services throughout the HIV cascade in Kigoma, Shinyanga, Pwani, and Tanga regions. With over 8 years of public health experience, Dr. Ndossi previously worked with the HJFMRI under the DoD in different capacities such as Regional Clinical Coordinator (Ruvuma), Regional Program Manager, and Senior Program Advisor. Dr. Ndossi holds an MPH from the University of Melbourne Australia and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of St Petersburg State Medical Academy – Mechnikov, Russia

Dr. Benedicta Masanja is the Director of Programs at THPS. In this role, she provides expert guidance and support in the design and implementation of all THPS program activities.
With over 15 years of experience in management, technical and strategic leadership of health programs including HIV, TB/HIV, and reproductive, maternal, child, and adolescent health services, she previously worked in different roles at Family Health International (now FHI360) and Christian Social Services Commission.
She holds a Masters of Medicine in Internal Medicine from Muhimbili University College of Health and Allied Sciences, and an MPh from Université Libre de Bruxelles, Brussels, Belgium.

Mwanafuraha Senkoro serves as the Associate Director of Human Resources at THPS. In this role, she is responsible for overall human resources administration. With over 15 years of experience, she previously worked at SimbaNet, Wananchi Business Services Tanzania, Barrick Gold, and NMB Bank. Mwanafuraha holds an MBA in international business from Cardiff Institute – Wales University, UK, a postgraduate diploma in business and management from London School of Commerce, and a BA in Public Administration – Human Resources from Mzumbe University.

Brian Donald Malanje
Associate Director of Procurement and Logistics
Is the Associate Director of Procurement and Logistics at THPS. He is responsible for leading the THPS Procurement and Logistics Unit, ensuring the organization’s value for money and financial stewardship by adhering to the best procurement practices and transparency.
Brian has over 18 years of experience as a Procurement specialist, including 8 years at THPS working on health promotion projects funded by PEPFAR through USAID and CDC in Tanzania. Prior to joining THPS, he worked with World Vision Tanzania, Barrick Goldmine Limited – North Mara, UNDP Tanzania, and Population Services International (PSI). He has extensive experience in executing procurement policies, procedures, and vendor contracts management.
Brian holds a Certified Procurement and Supplies Professional (CPSP) certification from The National Board for Materials Management (NBMM).

Dr. Alexander Christopher Kyarwenda, a medical doctor, is the Associate Director for Technical Support at THPS. In this role, he is responsible for providing overall technical leadership and guidance through overseeing and integrating all elements of HIV clinical care at THPS-supported regions. With over 18 years of experience, Dr. Alexander previously worked as a clinician for Benjamin William Mkapa HIV and AIDS Foundation, a Pediatrician at Baylor International Pediatric Initiative, and a Pediatric care and treatment Advisor at Henry Jackson Foundation Medical Research International. Dr. Alexander holds a Masters of Medicine in Pediatrics and Child Health from the Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences.

Dr. Appolinary Bukuku serves as the Associate Director for Community HIV Intervention Services under the Afya Hatua project at THPS. In this role, he provides technical and managerial leadership in strategic vision, planning, activities design, guidance, budgeting, coordination, and accountability for program performance. With over 7 years of experience, he previously worked at the International Center for AIDS Care and Treatment Program in Kigoma for four years, having joined the organization as a Clinical Program Officer and later being promoted to Clinical Advisor and Senior Clinical Advisor roles in Kigoma.

Dr. Sisty Moshi serves as Associate Director for Facility Services. He is a Medical Doctor (MD), Public Health Specialist, and Epidemiologist with vast experience in HIV/AIDS programming and health system strengthening. He started his career as a General practitioner and Research Assistant at Lindi Regional Hospital in 2004 and moved to health systems management as a District Medical Officer for seven years (Kilwa District Council 2004- 2007; Liwale District Council 2007 – 2011), Capacity Building Advisor leading the transition into a local entity i.e. THPS for ICAP Columbia University for one year (2011 – 2012), and then Director of Programs with THPS for eight years. Dr. Moshi holds a Master’s degree in Public Health; Applied Epidemiology and a Doctor of Medicine Degree from the University of Dar es Salaam and Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences.

Mr. Damian Laki is the Associate Director for Strategic Information under the Afya Hatua Project at THPS. In this role, he is responsible for providing strategic direction and oversight to the information systems team to ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives. He also oversees the development, maintenance, and implementation of internal information systems, including databases, data warehouses, and analytics platforms. With over 12 years of experience, he previously worked as a Senior Strategic Information Advisor at ICAP Tanzania and M&E Manager for Pathfinder International. Mr. Laki holds a Master’s degree in Public Health from Muhimbili University College of Health and Allied Sciences.

In this role, he is responsible for establishing and maintaining the organization’s financial management and administrative procedures. With over 16 years of experience, he previously worked as an accountant at the Family Health International (now FHI360). Allen is an Associate Certified Public Accountant (ACPA) and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Accounting and Finance from Mzumbe University.

Mr. Godfrey Mtimili is the Associate Director for Sub Grants and Contracts for THPS. In this role, he is responsible for providing overall guidance and support in the identification of subgrantees, pre-award assessment, planning, engaging, and monitoring the effective implementation of the signed sub-agreements for all THPS-supported projects. With over 18 years of experience in project management including project planning, accounting, compliance, capacity building, and grant management, he previously worked as a Grants Manager at ICAP-Columbia University, Deloitte Consulting Limited, and Care International. Mr. Mtimili holds a Master’s degree in Corporate Management and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting.

Dr. Otmar Massawa is the Regional Program Manager for the PEPFAR/CDC Afya Hatua Project in Tanga. He oversees program activities in the region, building and maintaining the program’s relationship with the Regional Secretariat and the District Administrations to ensure program objectives are achieved.
He is a passionate Medical Doctor and a Public Health Specialist with over 14 years of work experience in the public sector and donor-funded programs, and nine years of experience managing and leading donor-funded projects in Tanzania.
Previously he worked as the Zonal Project Manager of the USAID Uhuru Tuberculosis and Family Planning Facility Solutions Activity at THPS in Songwe and Rukwa regions responsible for providing leadership, management, and technical support in the overall implementation of the Activity.
Before joining THPS Dr. Otmar he worked with other donor-funded organizations in different capacities such as Clinical Program Officer, Clinical Advisor, and Senior Clinical Advisor at ICAP in Kagera Region. He also had a stint with HJF Medical Research International as Regional Clinical Coordinator for the Katavi region before being promoted to the Regional Program Manager position for the Rukwa and Katavi regions.
He has vast experience in the planning &budgeting, strategizing, monitoring &evaluation and implementation of HIV/AIDS interventions such as HIV care and treatment (both paediatrics and adults), PMTCT, continuous quality improvement, nutritional support, TB services, VMMC, family planning services, Gender-based violence(GBV), TB/HIV collaborative services, and community-based HIV/AIDS services including HIV testing and counseling services.
He holds a Master of Public Health and a Medical Doctor Degree from Muhimbili University College of Health and Allied Sciences, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Bahati Karashani
Senior IT Manager
Bahati is the Senior IT Manager at THPS, where she leads the IT department in delivering efficient and reliable ICT services that align with and support the organization’s strategic objectives. She bridges the gap between users and technology through effective business analysis and continuous research on leveraging digital solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
A transformational ICT leader with over 17 years of experience, Bahati specializes in strategic ICT management, digital transformation, and organizational development. She joined THPS in 2016 as an IT Manager and was promoted to Senior IT Manager in 2023. Prior to joining THPS, she served as an IT Specialist at Deloitte Consulting Limited, holding the roles of Manager 2 and Consultant, and worked as a Systems Engineer at Sihebs Technologies.
Bahati holds an ITIL certification, a Master’s degree in Management and Information Systems: Change & Development from the University of Manchester, and a Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering and information technology from the University of Dar es Salaam.

Dr. Geofrey Tarimo is the Regional Program Manager for our PEPFAR/CDC-supported Afya Hatua Project, in Kigoma region. He provides overall technical and managerial leadership supporting the Regional and Council Health Management Teams in implementing HIV care and treatment services, along with integrated interventions for cervical cancer prevention, TB diagnosis and treatment, voluntary medical male circumcision, laboratory systems, and supply chain management.
With over 13 years of experience in public health, Dr. Tarimo has led and supported health programs across Tanzania under various donors and partners, including roles with THPS, Amref Health Africa, MDH, and FHI360. His expertise lies in strengthening health systems, promoting data-driven decision-making, and advancing sustainable programs in collaboration with government structures.
He holds an MD and MPH from Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences.

In this role, he is responsible for overseeing program activities in the region and building and maintaining the program’s relationship with the Regional Secretariat and the District Administrations to ensure program objectives are achieved.
With more than 10 years of experience in managing and leading donor-funded projects in Tanzania, Dr. Scott previously worked as Regional Program Manager at Deloitte Consulting Limited, Project Manager at MDH, and Regional Project Coordinator at AGPAHI.

Dr. John Roman Kimario is the THPS Regional Program Manager for Pwani region under the Afya Hatua project. In this role, he serves as the primary technical and managerial lead, providing strategic leadership in the implementation of the project activities. With over ten years of professional experience in public health at various levels, he previously worked at FHI360 as a Regional Technical and at MDH as a PMTCT/EID and Pediatric HIV Advisor. Dr. Kimario holds a Master of Public Health – Implementation Science from Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences, a Bachelor of Medicine degree, and a Bachelor of Surgery degree from Makerere University.

Senior Internal Compliance Manager
Anderson Nollo is the Senior Internal Compliance Manager at THPS, where he leads the Internal Compliance Unit. He is responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of the organization’s Strategic Plan through strong governance, enhanced risk management, and robust internal and external controls.
Anderson brings over nine years of experience in auditing and advisory services. For the past two years, he has focused on compliance in PEPFAR-funded projects implemented by THPS through USAID and CDC in Tanzania. Prior to joining THPS, he worked with Toyota Tanzania Limited and Claritas International, gaining broad expertise in audit, accounting, taxation, and business advisory.
He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) accredited by the National Board of Accountants and Auditors and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance.
